Our Faq Frequently Asked Questions

When Should I Call CA:

You should contact Capital Adjusters immediately after a loss occurs. This is extremely important in order to be on offense during your claim.

Can I contact CA if a payment has been issued for my loss?

YES! Regardless of any payments made by your insurance company, Capital Adjusters can review your claim at no cost and determine whether you were underpaid.

How long do I have to file my claim?

Florida law allows insureds to file claims three years after the loss has occurred. This means that you still qualify for claims made against Hurricane Irma.

What is a Public Adjuster vs. Restoration Contractor?

The difference between a restoration company and Capital Adjusters is fundamentally total opposites. When you hire a restoration company, you are giving that company all of your insurance money. This also included the money you will need to rebuild your home. We believe since you bought the policy, you should be the payee, it’s that simple. A restoration company believes they deserve your money. When you allow them to clean your furniture of soot or water damage, even fire damage, you’re paying someone for absolutely nothing, and the word clean does not exist in your policy. Smoke and water damage is considered a peril, no different than fire damage. According to the policy you have every right to claim anything that had direct physical damage from any peril listed in the policy, this includes smoke damage. When you allow someone to remove your clothes: You’re giving away your money from the contents portion of your policy. Remember, the more they clean, the more they make, the less you get.

When Should I Hire a Contractor?

You should only hire a licensed general contractor when you know what your budget will be. Once Capital Adjusters has settled your claim, You should then request quotes from various contractors to determine your best option. Please remember to always check references.

Why Should I Hire a Public Adjuster Immediately After a Loss?

Capital Adjusters will begin to evaluate your loss through our team of forensic engineers, contractors, inventory specialist, accountants, etc. In addition, we will coordinate all inspections with your insurance company and handle all verbal communications on your behalf. This is crucial to ensure your claim is handled professionally from day one in order to ensure your maximum compensation allowed under your policy.

Should I Contact My Insurance Agent?

Yes, you may contact your insurance agent. However, it is not like he/she will be recommending a public adjuster. An insurance agent is in a tough spot between you (the insured) and the insurance company that his agency has a contract to sell. If the loss ratio in an agency is too high, that agency runs the risk of losing that business contract with that carrier, and could also hinder their ability to obtain contracts with other carriers in the future.

Why Should I Pay a Percentage of my Loss?

A study conducted by The Florida Office of Program Policy Analysis & Government Accountability concluded that insurance company settlements filed without the expertise of a licensed public insurance adjuster on average was 574% higher than what was paid by the insurance company. Capital Adjusters ensures your settlement is MAXIMIZED.

Can I Hire My Attorney to File my Claim?

Yes, you may, however simply because someone is an attorney does not mean that he/she is trained in handling routine insurance claims. In this scenario your attorney will hire a public adjuster to evaluate the claim, meanwhile passing along the additional expenses to you. You should only hire an attorney only when your only option is to file a lawsuit.

Our Testimonials

My home suffered a fire that destroyed my home. Thanks to Capital Adjusters, I was able to recover my full policy benefits when the insurance company had refused to do so. Without your help, we would of never been able to recover as much money as we did to rebuild our home. I highly recommend Tony Brito and his expert team of adjusters.

On September of 2017, Hurricane Irma damaged my home including my tile roof. My insurance company paid me under my deductible and advised me that they have concluded their claim. I hired Capital Adjusters and they were able to prove my damages to the insurance company and collect every dollar that was owed to me. I highly recommend their services.

A car slammed through my home in the middle of the night. My insurance company paid me $5,000 and closed the case. I called Capital Adjusters and they were able to collect 10 times more. Wow! I highly recommend Tony and his team!
